
Each year, the UNH President's Commission on the Status of Women presents an award to a person or group who has made an outstanding contribution to promoting equity, advancing the status of women, and serving as a role model for women on campus. At this time, we are seeking nominations for awards. Nominations may be made in three categories: faculty, staff and student. Award recipients and nominees will be honored at the Women's Commission's Annual Celebration, which will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 12:30-2:00pm, MUB Strafford Room
- STUDENT AWARD, based on depth and breadth of contributions, impact on individuals, organizations, programs, and policies; and length of service.
- FACULTY AWARD, based on depth and breadth of contributions, impact on individuals, organizations, programs, and policies; and length of service.
- STEPHANIE THOMAS STAFF AWARD, created in honor of former Registrar, Stephanie Thomas, who was a strong advocate for women's rights at UNH. She died of breast cancer in the 1990s. This award is given to a member of the UNH community who has displayed a long-standing commitment to women's issues and the mission of the Women's Commission Previous awardees will not be considered for a second award. - JOYCE GIBBS AWARD, created in 1996 to honor Joyce James Gibbs, who served as a senior administrative assistant to the Women's Commission from 1990 - 1997. Joyce died in April 2001. Throughout her life, Joyce was the support and anchor for a wide circle of students, activists, and others in the UNH and Seacoast communities. The Joyce Gibbs Award is given to a community member who has displayed a long-standing commitment to women's issues and the mission of the Women's Commission
